martina & phil | emu bottom homestead wedding

weddings , 09/11/2018

Martina & Phil celebrated their wedding day at Emu Bottom Homestead, tucked away in Sunbury, in the depths of winter. It was, in fact, a perfect winter’s day. Cold. Sunny. Crisp. Clear.

It was perfect for them. For the day. For the location. It lent an even more intimate feel to a day that was already firmly focussed on family. On friends. It made for some… interesting photographic challenges too. The sun doesn’t exactly set in winter. It disappears without notice. And the Miner’s Cottage at Emu Bottom is an amazingly atmospheric place for a ceremony. But man. It is dark. It was kind of liberating, in a way, knowing I had to shoot everything wide open on my fastest primes. Liberating in a stressful way, that is.

Don’t tell anyone, but I ‘may’ have tweaked the lighting slightly before it all went down :)

So here it is. Proof that winter weddings have a beauty all of their own.
